Use Mat Board to Protect and Decorate Your Fine Art

Mat board is used to enhance the look of your artwork with in a picture frame in several different ways. There are many types of matboard available, including acid-free, museum-quality Bainbridge mat board, pre-cut mat board and photo matting. All of these are useful to protect and add color to your framed artwork.

Bainbridge Mat Board

Bainbridge is the name of a company that produces some of the finest mat board available. Bainbridge mat board comes in two different thicknesses, which include four ply and eight ply. The four ply is one-sixteenth of an inch thick, and is perfect for use in most types of framing situations. The eight ply is thicker, at one-eighth of an inch, and offers extra strength and rigidity not found in other lesser mat board. All of the Bainbridge mat board is made with acid-free materials that contain no lignin or ground wood. Wood products contain acids that can damage your fine artwork's surface. Acid-free products are the best way to prevent that damage from occurring. It comes in various shades of white and off-white, as well as several vivid colors.

Pre-Cut Mat Board

Mats that are pre-cut offer several advantages to those who are doing a large quantity of framing. Because they are pre-cut, they are less expensive than custom-cut mats. This quality mat comes in a wide range of sizes and colors, so you can find exactly what you need for most standard sizes of framed artwork. Mat that is pre-cut is also available in acid-free forms, to help preserve and protect your fine artwork at a price you will like.

Photo Matting

Mats that are specially crafted for use with fine art photographs have several special features. Typically, photographs in art galleries or museums are framed in thin metal frames with wide white mats. This lends continuity to the display space, as well as an artistic quietness that will not distract from the photographs themselves. These mats are also made out of fairly thick mats, or the mats are layered to increase the thickness. This is done to ensure that there is good air circulation within the frame to prevent moisture from condensing inside, which could damage the surface of the photograph.

Other Matting Supplies

In addition to a great mat board, you will want some matting supplies to attach the art to the mount so that is stays securely in place within the frame. Hinging tape is used to connect the mat to the mount. The art is sandwiched in between, and this keeps the artwork from slipping while giving you the option of easily reframing in the future if you wish.

Cheap Chicago Blackhawks Tickets

The Chicago Blackhawks are a professional ice hockey team based in Chicago, Illinois. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The team was called Chicago Black Hawks prior to the 1986-87 season. They won three Stanley Cup Championships and thirteen division titles since their foundation in 1926. The Blackhawks are one of the Original Six NHL teams besides Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, and Detroit Red Wings. Since 1994, the Blackhawks have played in the United Center in Chicago.

They were founded by coffee tycoon Frederic McLaughlin. Most of the Hawks' original players came from the Portland Rosebuds of the Western Canada Hockey League, which had folded the previous season.

Owner and founder Frederic McLaughlin died in 1944. His estate sold the team to a syndicate headed by longtime team president Bill Tobin. However, Tobin was only a puppet for Red Wings owner James E. Norris, who had been the Black Hawks' landlord since his 1936 purchase of Chicago Stadium. For the next eight years, the Norris-Tobin ownership, as a rule, paid almost no attention to the Black Hawks. Nearly every trade between Detroit and Chicago ended up being Red Wing heists. Between 1945 and 1958, they only made the playoffs twice. The Black Hawks came to the Final in 1944. After upsetting the Red Wings in the semifinals, the juggernaut Canadiens promptly dispatched them in four games. Mosienko still holds the record for quickest hat trick, 21 seconds, in the NHL.

The millennium was disappointing for the Hawks. Eric Daze, Alexei Zhamnov, and Tony Amonte emerged as the team's leading stars by this time. However, Chicago missed the playoffs for four straight years until they took a quick first-round exit in 2002. Amonte left for the Phoenix Coyotes in the summer of 2002, and the Blackhawks missed the playoffs again in 2003 and 2004. In 1967, the Black Hawks made a trade with the Boston Bruins and turned out to be the most one-sided in the history. Chicago sent young forwards Esposito, Ken Hodge and Fred Stanfield to Boston in exchange for Pit Martin, Jack Norris and Gilles Marotte. While Martin starred for the Hawks for many seasons, Esposito, Hodge, and Stanfield lead the Bruins to the top of the league for several years and captured two Stanley Cups. In Boston, Phil Esposito set numerous scoring records en route to a career as one of the NHL's all-time greats.

A somber note was struck in February of 2004, when ESPN named the Blackhawks the worst franchise in professional sports. Indeed, the Blackhawks are now viewed with much indifference by Chicagoans, who feel that management is deliberately trying to alienate the fan base. Many hockey fans in Chicago preferred the American Hockey League's Chicago Wolves to the Hawks, who self-praised themselves as "We Play Hockey the Old-Fashioned Way: We Actually Win".

On November 26, 2006 Blackhawks GM Dale Tallon fired Head Coach Trent Yawney and appointed assistant coach Denis Savard as head. Savard had been the Assistant Coach of the Blackhawks since 1997, the year after he retired as one of the most popular and successful Blackhawks of all time. The Blackhawks continued to struggle, and finished last in the Central Division, 12 games out of the playoffs. The team has still not won the Cup since 1961, the longest patch in any current NHL team. They finished with the fourth worst record in the league, and in the Draft Lottery, won the opportunity to select first overall in the draft, whereas the team never had a draft pick higher than 3rd overall. They used the pick to draft center Patrick Kane from the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League.

Tattoos

Body art has been around for centuries and people from all over the world have been captivated by this art form. Although a large number of people do not see this as an art form they call it degrading/vandalism of the body its still a popular art form that is appreciated by all ages.

Personally I think they are fantastic and would consider one for myself in the near future, I have a huge amount of respect for tattoo artists but stensils have made it easy for even the most inexperienced artists to make a masterpiece. You can now choose a design from a tattoo website( there are thousands of designs to choose from) on the internet and print it out, then go to one of the studios that are listed on the website and get it done, its that easy. You can even go as far designing your own artwork and selling it to the website/studio so people can choose from one of your designs.

Go on make a statement, tell the world who you are. Using your body as a canvas for artwork is bold move, so this is not the faint hearted . I urge you though to find something that has meaning, a design that represents who you are , don't just choose a design because it looks cool or because your friend has one. Tattoos are for forever so take your time when choosing or designing an artpiece.
I recently stumbled across a really cool site called chopper tattoos.

Check it out if you are into body art.

Hervey Bay Wedding Photographers

Once you have found somewhere to hold your wedding the next thing that you need to think about is finding a photographer to take brilliant photos of your wedding. It can be really difficult to find a wedding photographer mainly because everyone is different.
You will carefully need to find a great photographer whose photos agree with your taste. You will also need to find a photographer that you like and get on well with. It’s important that you find a photographer that understands your needs and requirements, and may be also your idiosyncrasies.

Choosing carefully

The important thing is that you choose the best photographer so that you don’t lose any moments from your wedding. Your wedding will only happen once, and so you must make sure that all of these special moments are captured in all of their glory. It’s best if you hire a photographer that you feel comfortable with because he is not just responsible for taking photos, but also for organising the photos. They will be asking people to move into certain positions to get the best photos, which is why it will be easier if you hire someone that you get on well with.

Getting to know the photographer

Many people enjoy working directly with an independent photographer because they will be able to quickly and easily get to know the photographer. The problem with talking to some of the larger companies is that they might send a representative to talk to you, while subcontracting the work out to a freelancer or other third party. This means that you might not get to know the photographer that you are hiring. For your wedding it is important to carefully choose the right photographer, and for this you must get to know them personally.

Minnesota Wild Tickets

The Minnesota Wild is a well-known professional ice hockey team from Saint Paul, Minnesota. Their symbol, which is a bear, is also a popular symbol of theirs. The Minnesota Wild is a member of the Northwest Division of the Western Conference. The team first began playing in 2000.

The National Hockey League awarded Minnesota an expansion franchise [1997]. This meant that they would play in the 2000-2001 season. The 6 finalist team names for this season included: Minnesota Northern Lights, Minnesota Voyageurs, Minnesota Blue Ox, Minnesota Freeze, Minnesota White Bears and Minnesota Wild.

In 2000-01, the Minnesota Wild did not have much success. However, it showed that it could go on and improve with every season. One game during this season that was worth taking note of included the first visit of the Dallas Stars. The crowd turnout for this match was a record one with over 18,000. In the following season, the Wild got off to a flying start and claimed 1 point out of their first 7 games. Yet, they finished in the last place. The point to note was that the team showed strong signs of improvement compared to the previous season. As a second-year speedster, Gaborik had a good season with 30 goals, while Andrew Brunette scored 69 points.

In the 2003-04, the Wild were short-handed. The team struggled in the first month, but they managed to get their two important left-wingers signed. However, the problem they faced was getting into game shape, and their struggles carried on through November. Though the team finished with strong wins, it could not climb out of its weak position. The Wild were the last to finish in the competitive Northwest Division. As the season progressed, it was clear that the Wild were preparing to trade some of their older players. This would include players like Brad Bombardir and Jim Dowd.

In the 2004-05 season, there was no play because there was a lockout. Former Wild player Sergei Zholtok died of a heart condition during a match. It is known that Zholtok died in the arms of Darby Hendrickson [Minnesotan and former Wild player].

In the 2005-06 season, the Wild again finished last in the Northwest Division. They were 8 points behind Vancouver.

For the 2006-07 season, the Wild signed veteran Free Agents, Mark Parrish, Kim Johnsson, and Keith Carney. The Wild made it to the playoffs in 2007. This was the 2nd time they did so. However, they were knocked out by the Stanley Cup Champion Anaheim Ducks in the first round.

Minnesota Sports & Entertainment owns the Minnesota Wild. This is a limited partnership established by Bob Naegele Jr. who is a majority owner. The Minnesota Swarm in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) also belongs to this partnership. With owning both these teams, the partnership also operates the Saint Paul RiverCentre, the Xcel Energy Center, and Roy Wilkins Auditorium. Additionally, the partnership owns and operates 317 on Rice Park. This was previously known as the historic Minnesota Club.

What makes Television Spin-Offs a Hit?

It’s been a trend with creators of television shows to follow up a successful series with a spin-off. The idea could be tracked way back to the 1950’s or the 60’s. There are varying reports of what the first ever spin-off program was. The rule behind a spin-off is that its pilot episode should be aired in relation to the parent series. In most cases, one or two of the characters from the parent TV series is continued into the spin-off to give it a jumpstart. These characters may or may not be a part of the series forever, depending on the value they add to the script.

The last decade alone has seen quite a few successful shows precede a spin-off. The television audience loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer; its spin-off Angel was equally well received. The character of Angel picked up popularity during the parent show, enough to give the makers an idea. Also, Beverly Hills 90210, the highly popular teenage cult show of the 90’s paved way for its 2008 spin-off 90210. It’s apparently an answer to the very popular Gossip Girl. Speaking of which, the makers of the Gossip Girl series are planning a spin-off of their own, and have reportedly spoken to Brittany Snow to play the lead.

Almost every new TV show has been branching out from its original series. Even makers of Grey’s Anatomy weren’t left out of the spin-off race. The succeeding series was given the name Private Practice, with a story revolving around Dr Addison Montgomery after she moves to Los Angeles. Looks like big stars aren’t immune to the spin-off success formula either. They are being roped in to heighten show appeal. There’s news that actor Chris O’Donnell has been confirmed for the NCIS spin-off.

It isn’t really difficult to guess why most spin-offs work. They are built on an existing platform that’s clicked with an audience, and the script has to just take off from where it’s left. Moreover, the show and the characters that continue have a loyal audience. It’s just a matter of sustaining it with an equally compelling story.

Like most parent episodes, the spin-offs are also available easily on Internet TV. So curious followers can catch them online, anytime.

What TV shows are America hooked on?

What does America like to watch on TV nowadays? A lucrative business unto itself, television has had its fair share of viewership. When people can’t catch them on primetime, they watch TV shows online. Let’s take a peek at some of the popular shows that dominate American small screens currently.

On top of the list is ‘Smallville’, a science-fiction drama series. It’s kind of a prequel to the much-loved fictional character of Superman. People are still interested in Clark Kent and hooked on to see what he was like before he became Superman. Following Smallville is ‘Lost’, at number 2- the story of crash survivors in an island. The show is airing its fifth successful season now. Not so behind is another thriller drama series, Heroes. Amidst a lot of criticism about its sequel, this show about people with special abilities still manages to rank third.

Taking the 4th, 5th and the 6th places are ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘Battlestar Galactica’, and ‘House’. While both Grey’s Anatomy and House are medical comedies, Battlestar Galactica is again a sci-fi drama. Do we see a trend in the taste of television audience now? There seems to be a dominance of science fiction and medical dramas in the list. (Not surprisingly we see another set of medicos entertaining us with Scrubs, and it’s placed at a ‘lucky’ 13.)

‘Gossip Girl’, ‘Bones’, ‘Supernatural’ and ‘NCIS’ are the next four in the list of top 10 programs on American television. Gossip Girl is the only soap that’s managed to gain good audience amidst the adventure/action and science fiction programs. The makers definitely deserve a pat for their ability to get an action-loving audience to watch their show.

There’s a healthy viewership for most of these programs around the globe as well. Free online TV shows have taken their popularity way beyond American shores. It’s quite just to say that American television has truly gone global.
